Also note that there will be no in-person scouting activities through the end of August.

For more details visit the Scouts Canada COVID-19 Update page.

LogJam On-Line (Beavers)

Attention all Eager Beavers,

Camp LogJam 2020 is going virtual! This year, Camp LogJam has become LogJam On-Line!

LogJam On-Line has been created because Scouts Canada has closed all Scouts Canada camps until at least the end of August, 2020, so we have nowhere to go camping.

LogJam On-Line will continue to bring you exciting, adventurous programming right into your home. Create awesome crafts, take a hike in your own neighbourhood, sing with other Beaver Scouts, and more. Enjoy the fellowship as you meet other Beaver Scouts and Scouters, all on-line.

During LogJam On-Line, you will have the opportunity to earn two Personal Achievement Badges (PAB). You will also get a LogJam On-Line crest for your campfire blanket or poncho.

There are two sessions of LogJam On-line – August 17-19 and August 20-22.

For more information, check out the LogJam On-Line website at www.camplogjam.com.

Hope to see YOU at LogJam On-Line 2020!

Fall 2017 Key Dates:

Wednesday, September 13, 2017 - First night for all sections

Beaver Colony will be starting in the Connection at Willingdon Church. The meeting will be from 7pm-8:30pm.

Cub Pack will be starting at Cascade Heights Elementary School (4343 Smith Ave, Burnaby). The meeting will be from 6:45pm-8:45pm.

Scout Troop will start downstairs of Willingdon Church in room 1240. The meeting will be from 7pm-9pm

Wednesday, September 27, 2017 - Popcorn Fundraiser Kickoff Night

All parents are invited to the Popcorn Fundraiser night. We encourage all parents to attend with their Beaver. This will better equip your Beaver to sell popcorn. It starts at 7:00pm in the Connection (Gym) located on the main level of the church.

Our Popcorn Fundraiser happens once a year. It is the only fundraiser that we do. The boys in the program sell Scouts Popcorn to help raise money to support the Scouting Program at our church. Since we started the Popcorn Fundraiser Program, we have sold over $250,000 and over $120,000 have gone directly back into the program.

The Popcorn Fundraiser helps pay for all the activities that your boys do during the year like the crafts, camps, hikes, activities and supplies

You will receive more information on how your youth can be involve on September 27th.

Parents! Interested in Volunteering with Scouts?

Many of our dedicated volunteers in our program are parents like you. By participating in Scouts at Willingdon Church, you can make a difference in a young boys life. I was one of those boys that was blessed by the experience.

We are looking for

- leaders in all of our sections;

- volunteers to help with our popcorn fundraiser;

- a registrar to help with paperwork; and

- a quartermaster to help maintain our equipment.

All the training that you need will be provided by Scouts Canada. 4th Burnaby SW will cover the cost of the police record check, uniform and any additional activities. If you are interested in volunteering with us, please let me know. You can contact our group commissioner Tim at: 4swgroup@gmail.com

EARLY REGISTRATION – PARENTS MUST READ!!!

This year, registration is entirely online.  For the first three weeks of May, you will have the opportunity to reregister through our early registration.  After that, registration opens up for anyone in the lower mainland so you may not be able to get in if you wait.  To register early, starting Monday May 1st:

·         If you have an account, login to it
·         If you do not have an account, click the link that says:

"If you or your child have ever registered or taken training with Scouts Canada Click here to find your account."

·         When you are logged in, click on the MyFamily tab.  There will be an option for you to register your youth.

Ages:  If your son turns 8 by the end of December of this year, they will be registering for Cubs.  If they turn 11 by the end of December, they will be registering for Scouts.

Based on their information on file, the web page will notify you with a warning if you attempt to register your son for the wrong section. (see below)

There is a $15.00 discount for spring registration.

Here are some instructions from Scouts Canada:

1. A simplified process for parents
to renew their children: A renew icon has been added in the My Family
section. Parents can quickly determine if their child has not been renewed
and launch the registration process by selecting the link beside the child’s
name. The appropriate section for the age of the child is highlighted to ensure
the child is registered in the correct program.
2. Age validation: A prominent warning message will display in the event a parent registers their child in a program that is not age-appropriate.
The result will be fewer registration errors for both new and returning members.

April is Missions Month for 4SW Burnaby Scouting!

Wednesday April 19th is Missions Night - all sections will meet at Willingdon in the Connection at 7:00 pm.

The Willingdon Women's Mission Circle has asked us to gather the following items for their hygiene kits:
  • Dark coloured hand towels - Walmart, Ikea, Super Store, JYSK
  • 4 oz. (118 ml) plain bar soap - individually wrapped
  • Individually wrapped toothbrushes - Dollar stores or your own dentists
  • If you don't have time to collect the above, a cash donation can help the ladies to purchase these items to put in the kits (they try to buy in bulk when they can)
Also, for any Willingdon Church short term missions volunteers who go out, they like to supply them with good quality packages of balloons, available at the Dollar stores, a package of 8 for $1.25.
