2026 Fundraising Options:

This page lists information about this year's Global Coffee Fundraiser campaign, Kernels Popcorn Fundraising, Return-It bottle depot, and Donations through Scouts.ca.  

For scouting youth who do fundraising we will allocate 20% of their sales to a holding fund.  If they choose to go to a jamboree while still a member of our group, that money will be available for them to use for the jamboree.  At the discretion of the group committee those funds may be allocated to be used for other special purposes. They have no cash value and cannot be redeemed if you leave the group.

Starting at our fundraiser kickoff on September 23rd

Order Deadline: October 28^th 

If every youth sells 20 bags it will go a long way to offset costs and assuring quality activities for: Colony – Pack – Troop – Company –  Crew

Collect your orders and record payments on the handy order sheet which can be downloaded here. Submit your order and payment online at this link.

We will arrange a Wednesday in early December for you to pick up your orders at the church 

Participation will be tracked by individual youth for future consideration (credits).

Door to Door Safety tips:

Here is a Scouts Canada link about safely selling popcorn. While we're selling chocolate, not popcorn, the same safety rules apply:

• Stick to your neighbourhood
• Sell with an adult
• Don't enter a stranger's house, even if welcomed. Always stay outside the door
• Don't do this after dark - stop when the sun sets
• Stay in bright places, wear bright clothes so your adult can see you - wear your uniform and necker
• Don't carry a lot of cash - you might want a bit of change for someone who will order
• Forget your own name - if someone asks for a name, give them the Group Commissioner name (Robert Houben) and contact information willingdonscouting@gmail.com 604-219-8394.
• Sell where you're welcome - if you want to get some stock and sell in front of a grocery store or bank, get permission
• Walk where you should - don't cross people's lawns or gardens.
• If something weird happens, tell an adult right away - trust your gut - if something doesn't feel right, walk away!

Return-It Depot - Active All Year!

Go to any Return-It depot and follow these instructions!

1. Put your containers in clear plastic bags, no sorting needed!
2. Go to an Express depot, at the kiosk use our group's emergency phone number 604-219-8394 to log in and print labels, one per bag (that's my cell number). 
3. Place a label on each of your bags and leave them in the bag drop area.
4. Return-It will sort your containers and credit the group's Express account with your refund within 5 business days. We’ll get an email once the refund is in our account. 
5. Email us that you have done this with your youth's name and which Return-It depot you went to, as Return-It doesn't know who put the money in.

Give these instructions to your friends, co-workers, extended family. Let them know that your funds will support your youth in Willingdon's Burnaby 4SW Scouting group!  You will need to let me know the amount and who deposited it, so I can credit your youth in case they go to a jamboree or other special event.

Donations Through Scouts Canada - Active All Year!

You can put a donation into Scouts Canada using the Scouts Canada Online Donation Link:

Under Ways to Give, click on "One-Time Donation":

Set your donation amount, then click the "Designate to" drop-down:

Choose "Donate to a specific Scout Group:

Click the Donate button, then proceed with payment options. After entering your payment option, you will be given the option to enter the group name you are donating to. Choose "4th Southwest" for the group name.  If they ask for a council, select "Pacific Coast Council".

Fill in the rest of the form. Unless you choose to be anonymous, your name can be requested by us.  We recommend that you let us know if you've done this so that we can credit your youth with the donation. 

Corporate Donations through Benevity

Some of you, like me, work for a company that has a program where they allow you to send out donations to a charity of your choice. Those donations may be based on volunteer hours you register with them or just funds made available for you to donate. One vendor that numerous companies use to do this is called Benevity.

Every year I log my volunteer hours and Coast Capital Savings gives me $10 for every hour I volunteer, up to a maximum.  I always donate that money to our group. Previously this involved putting a designation in the comment field, but now we’ve had Scouts Canada set us up under their umbrella charity as a special “Project”.

If your organization is using Benevity and you wish to allocate donations to our group, simply go to your company’s Benevity page and select “Make a Donation”.  In the search box, put “Scouts Canada - 4th Southwest” and click Search.  You should see “Scouts Canada - 4th Southwest Scout Group”.  We currently show up at the top, but you may need to scroll down to find us. If you do not see this, ask your organization if they can add Scouts Canada to their Benevity options.
