2025-2026 Fundraising Options:
For scouting youth who do fundraising we will allocate 20% of their sales to a holding fund. If they choose to go to a jamboree while still a member of our group, that money will be available for them to use for the jamboree. At the discretion of the group committee those funds may be allocated to be used for other special purposes. They have no cash value and cannot be redeemed if you leave the group.

Check Out and Delivery Options
When
Checking Out the Order:
- The person ordering (possibly
you) will be asked for name and address in a section called “BILLING
DETAILS”. If paying by Credit Card, this information must match your
credit
- This section has a place for
the name of the scout they are supporting with the purchase.
- There is a checkbox near the
bottom of the checkout form: "Ship to a different address?"
Most of you
will lave the “Ship to a different address?” checkbox unchecked. With this
option there is no cost for shipping and when the order closes we will pick up
the order and distribute it to the scout youth who it is supporting and their
family. You will then distribute it to
those who placed the order. The only
shipping option displayed will be:
- Ship with group order to 4TH SW
BURNABY SCOUTS (FREE)
If you wish
to send the order to a family member or friend outside of the lower mainland,
you have the option to check the "Ship to a different address?" control. You will be prompted for another address
(Canada only) and when checking out you will be presented with the following
options:
- Ship with group order to 4TH SW
BURNABY SCOUTS (FREE)
- Regular Parcel: $14.32
- Expedited Parcel: $14.68
- Xpresspost: $15.08
- Priority: $33.49
On this
case, Global will ship it directly to that second address that was entered. Note that the prices above are for a single
bag. Canada Post will determine the actual cost based on the size of the order.
Payment
options are e-Transfer or Credit Card.
Delivery Timing
The order will be ready for us to pick up or for Global to
ship within about 2 weeks of us closing the order off. We’ll close the order on October 31st,
so we expect to have the order picked up in time for November 12th hand-out.
Who to Sell To:
Parents, reach out to co-workers. Maybe ask your company if
they’ll source a bunch of office coffee?
Youth, reach out to grandparents, aunts, uncles, teachers,
coaches, parents of friends. Talk to
your school office to see if they’ll source a bunch of coffee or hot chocolate
for the staffroom.
How to Sell
Door to Door
You can go door-to-door in your neighbourhood – but see the
safety tips below. In this case, your options are to track who is ordering,
what products and how many of each. Use that information to put in and pay for each
person ordering. You will have to
deliver to them when you receive your order.
You will need to collect their payment.
Show and Sell ordering
Another option is to do a show-and-sell with product you buy
yourself, similar to what we did with Purdy’s.
This would have to happen after the group order is delivered, and you’d
have to order your “stock” as part of your group order.
People you know:
For people you know, make a little form like this:
Scout Name: Johnny Doe
Order Link: https://globalcoffeefundraising.ca/4thburnabyscouts/
You can do a paper form, email or text this to someone. Have them place an order and put your name in it.
Door to Door Safety tips:
Here is a Scouts Canada link about
safely selling popcorn. While we're selling chocolate, not popcorn, the same safety rules
apply:
- Stick to your neighbourhood
- Sell with an adult
- Don't enter a stranger's house,
even if welcomed. Always stay outside the door
- Don't do this after dark - stop
when the sun sets
- Stay in bright places, wear
bright clothes so your adult can see you - wear your uniform and necker
- Don't carry a lot of cash - you
might want a bit of change for someone who will order
- Forget your own name - if
someone asks for a name, give them the Group Commissioner name (Robert
Houben) and contact information willingdonscouting@gmail.com 604-219-8394.
- Sell where you're welcome - if
you want to get some stock and sell in front of a grocery store or bank,
get permission
- Walk where you should - don't
cross people's lawns or gardens.
- If something weird happens,
tell an adult right away - trust your gut - if something doesn't feel
right, walk away!
Tips and FAQs
Do You Sell
Coffee Pods? You can get reusable coffee pods at Amazon.ca, Walmart,
Keurig, https://evergreen-capsules.com
and other places.
I don’t
drink coffee. How can I support you?
Buy some coffee from us, put my name in as the scout, and in the Note field put
“Donate to the Willingdon food bank.”
Return-It Depot - Active All Year!
- Put your containers in clear plastic bags, no sorting needed!
- Go to an Express depot, at the kiosk use our group's emergency phone number 604-219-8394 to log in and print labels, one per bag (that's my cell number).
- Place a label on each of your bags and leave them in the bag drop area.
- Return-It will sort your containers and credit the group's Express account with your refund within 5 business days. We’ll get an email once the refund is in our account.
- Email us that you have done this with your youth's name and which Return-It depot you went to, as Return-It doesn't know who put the money in.
Donations Through Scouts Canada - Active All Year!
Choose "Donate to a specific Scout Group:
Corporate Donations through Benevity
Some of you, like me, work for a company that has a program where they allow you to send out donations to a charity of your choice. Those donations may be based on volunteer hours you register with them or just funds made available for you to donate. One vendor that numerous companies use to do this is called Benevity.
Every year I log my volunteer hours and Coast Capital Savings gives me $10 for every hour I volunteer, up to a maximum. I always donate that money to our group. Previously this involved putting a designation in the comment field, but now we’ve had Scouts Canada set us up under their umbrella charity as a special “Project”.
If your organization is using Benevity and you wish to allocate donations to our group, simply go to your company’s Benevity page and select “Make a Donation”. In the search box, put “Scouts Canada - 4th Southwest” and click Search. You should see “Scouts Canada - 4th Southwest Scout Group”. We currently show up at the top, but you may need to scroll down to find us. If you do not see this, ask your organization if they can add Scouts Canada to their Benevity options.
